"A world famous detective is sent to a little village in the Ardennes called Thauxmont, to solve the murder of a young postman. There, he will learn of a terrible creature lurking above their heads, as the case opens a deep wound from his past."

A murder mystery visual novel with cosmic horror elements, featuring:

• Around 40 minutes of story and point and click gameplay
• 9 characters, with alternative sprites and talking and blinking animations
• 15 backgrounds, and more than 30 CGs, some animated
• A colourful artstyle, inspired by Professor Layton games and Belgian artists

Charles-Antoine Lepleut is a world-renowned private detective hailing from France. Known for his strict manners and disdain for sloth and incompetence, the Hound of Montpellier became Paris' most notorious investigator.

He often works alongside France's police force, known as the Gendarmerie, which he despises and demeans at every chance. However, due to Lepleut's success rate, he's sometimes recommended or even sought out by agencies from other countries, meaning he's travelled all over Europe.

Something is afoot in the village of Thauxmont. The murder of its local postman, seemingly the work of some loan shark, possibly hides a darker truth behind it. Is that perhaps why Lepleut was recommended by France to the Belgian authorities for this case? Tension does loom in the air.

Many characters are linked with the murder of the young postman, we have sent reporters to Thauxmont but the locals have refused to comment on the case. However, we have been able to compile a list of the suspects.

This game was made for the Spooktober 2026 VN Gamejam! It is mostly finished, but be aware I will be uploading a new version with finished music, normalised SFX and finished CGs as soon as I am able.

Trigger warning: It features themes of cosmic horror, body horror and slight blood, but all of them are very tame. It also contains allusions to racism and war.

No ai was used in the making of this game, I'm reticent to use the no-ai tag since all the games I uploaded with that tag get scrapped eventually. All art, assets and music is original, the SFX are from freesound, credited when added.
